altAid

Each year, 3 million students leave school overa financial emergency of less than $1,000.

Sometimes a single unexpected expense like a medical bill or car repair can force a student to drop out of school or training.

The altAid program supports students through financial crises by providing direct financial assistance for unexpected expenses that threaten to derail their education.

In less than 10 minutes, eligible students can apply online for an altAid grant and receive an answer – and funds – within a few days. altAid’s rapid turnaround and easy-to-use platform provides critical financial relief quickly, allowing students to focus on school.

To be eligible you must qualify for the following:

Enroll in an eligible training program featured on altPath.

Have not received an altAid grant within the last 12 months AND have not exceeded the lifetime limit of 3 grants or $850.

Have an unexpected financial need within the last 60 days.

Your financial need must be for something other than rent or tuition.

Your financial hardship must be impacting your enrollment or performance.

How It Works:

Students apply to altAid through their altPath account. Once they enroll in a training program, they can complete the altAid application when a need arises. Applicants will receive a response within 3 business days.

If approved, funds will be disbursed via an electronic debit card delivered by email. Please note that we are not able to fund every application we receive.

“This grant is literally life changing for me. I can purchase a 3 month supply of my diabetes medication (which is very expensive) so that takes off a lot of my financial burden and stress in regard to my health for the next three months. I am incredibly grateful!”
