LOC Scholars

In the spirit of Areté, LOC Scholars empowers exceptional students to overcome barriers and shape their own paths to success.

A full-ride scholarship for high-achieving students from middle-income families, selected during junior year of high school.

LOC Scholars is a comprehensive college scholarship for students from middle-income families who have the talent and drive to succeed at selective four-year colleges and universities. LOC Scholars exists to remove financial constraints as a barrier to ambition so that students can achieve their full potential. We select scholars during their junior year of high school, ahead of the college application cycle, so they have the freedom to apply early decision where it strengthens their chances of attending their best-fit school. It also means that when the time comes to choose where to apply and where to enroll, scholars can make those decisions based entirely on fit, not finances.

The scholarship generally covers the full bill from your school, including tuition, room and board, and required fees, along with financial support for living expenses, professional development, and a laptop to start college ready. Beyond funding, scholars receive ongoing advising and become part of a community of high-achieving peers.

We select students who demonstrate strength across five areas:

Excellence

Setting a high bar, seeking challenge, and pursuing it relentlessly.

Persistence

Continuing the pursuit of your goals in the face of obstacles.

Growth

Demonstrating continuous self-improvement.

Discipline

Building and maintaining the habits required for long-term achievement.

Service

Using your strengths to contribute beyond yourself.
